The Sehwag Triple - A melange of moments - Part III
April 1st 2008 13:49
Ladies and Gentlemen, lets put our hands together for a jaw-droppingly glittering and classy innings from Virender Sehwag.
Yet another Test century for the middle order player turned opener from Delhi. His 14th century. It has really been a treat to the eyes watching him bat. It might be the most benign surface but this was batting of the highest quality. Far far above anything that the South Africans had on show earlier on the same pitch.
Sehwag was facing Kallis when he was on 95 when he smashed the ball to the midwicket fence for a one bounce boundary. That took him to 99. One blocked ball later, a pitched up ball from Kallis outside the offstump was dispatched straight down the ground for another boundary which got there before Kallis had time to turn around and spot the trajectory of the ball. And that was 100 for Virender Sehwag.
Jaffer at the other end has done his part of farming the strike appropriately and being the ideal foil for the dasher at the other end. This is a formidable opening partnership we have here. Good for India.
