Politics - DMK style!

Folks - I was at Madurai, Tamil Nadu a couple of days back. Been here for the past couple of days - at my in-law's place. Well, day before yesterday there was this gentleman dressed in white and white coming upto us with a conciliatory smile handing over three envelopes each for the voters in this house.
Inside the envelopes are three 500 rupee notes. One for each envelope. This is exactly what has been happening in Madurai - my in-laws tell me. DMK's Azhagiri is reported to have won the by-election in Thirumangalam using exactly such and other nefarious schemes.
This is politics at its worst. I have only heard of these things happening till now. My only regret was about not opening the envelopes when that gentleman was present and not exposing him in front of the public.
And if still people vote for Karunanidhi and Azhagiri and the rest of the DMK bunch - well, be prepared for them to rule over you - roughshod, it goes without saying.

A party which can organize and distribute dresses to 32000 families overnight for a bye election, pay them money and scare them that if they vote for any other party, the video camera will expose them - is unstoppable unless something really, really happens for the better.

That us common citizens have been put in such a state of despondency insofar as the general state of administration/politics is concerned tells you a lot about the character and ultimate aim of these politicians.
What we have is not a democracy. It is just monarchy in another name - with minor adaptations. May I add - shameless adaptations.
