CB Series - Match 10 - sledging controversy

On the spot impression
And Ishant who has made all the news for his pace, cleans up Symonds with a slower ball. Symonds has an ugly swipe at it and misses it by the proverbial country mile. And Ishant sends him off with a mouthful which Symonds cannot resist but respond to it with some choice words of his own.
And Ponting standing at the other end made sure that the umpires got involved in the fracas on field and Harper last seen was gesticulating to the Indian captain Dhoni and Ishant Sharma. Dhoni though did not seem to think that his man was too much in the wrong there. I agree. Fiery send-offs were not invented by the Indians. And a few instances of the 'F***' word is not something that the Australians have never done.
If anything, Symonds was the guilty party in responding to a fast bowler in jubiliation.
And in lip reading Harper seems to be saying - 'That boy needs to.....'. Very interesting. If this is brough to bear as if it was Ishant's fault it would be most unfortunate. That is not the case. Ishant only responded.
Symonds has been boorish - that much has been very evident till now. And it continues to be true.
Summing it up a couple of days later
If there is something that can be defined as the height of irony then this is it. I am no lip reader. So, I cannot make out whether Symonds said - Well bowled champ. But what I did see was his facial expression and the way he went after Ishant. The words he said before Ishant went on the finger pointing and bad mouthing spree were definitely not complimentary.
Why is Symonds instigating these stupid incidents on the field? Laws need to be there to ensure that the instigator needs to be punished at least as severely as the offender himself. Right now, I dont know what is there or not in that Law book for cricket. But the ICC should start using some common sense too.
And I am sick of Match Referees regularly pulling up Indian players. Where is Srinath - the Indian match referee?
Another thing - did the same Symonds not make a very loud point in that Harbhajan incident that the cricket field is not the place for friendship or any pleasantries being exchanged between opposing sides? How come his view has changed in the course of a few matches? Is somebody looking into this, please?
Justice is crying - because it has not been delivered, yet again.
